The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) measures cooling efficiency, which is calculated by the cooling output for a typical cooling season divided by the total electric energy input during the same time frame.  A higher SEER rating means greater energy efficiency.

The Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) is a measure of a gas furnace’s efficiency in converting fuel to energy, by projecting the average thermal efficiency for a complete heating season.  a higher AFUE rating means greater energy efficiency.

Standard filters work to keep your system and its ductwork clean, but they don’t really improve indoor air quality. To do that with a filter you need a media filter.  The media filter rests between the main return duct and the blower cabinet and will improve dust and particle removal by seven times that of a standard filter.  Always choose a filter that matches your blower’s capacity.  For optimum efficiency and filtration, Prillaman Mechanical recommends that you replace your disposable filters at least once a month. If you are concerned about air quality in your home, talk to your Prillaman professional about whole house air quality products.

The standard factory warranty covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to a defect in the part.  The factory warranty does not cover labor. However, Prillaman Mechanical provides a one year labor warranty on all of our installations. If you purchase your system from us, we register your warranty and provide a warranty packet to you.  We can also, in most cases, determine if your parts are covered under warranty even if we did not install the equipment.

Programmable thermostats allow you to control the temperature in your home at different times of day without ever touching your thermostat.  Because everything is automatic, you will never forget to change the setting on your own.  Some programmable thermostats allow you to control air cleaners and humidifiers as well as your heating/cooling system not only from your house but from an app on your mobile device.  WiFi thermostats provide additional information for your comfort since they access and display online information such as current outdoor temperature, pollen count, etc.

Constant stopping, starting and continual operation will wear down any machine if the proper care and maintenance is not performed.  Your system works hard to keep you comfortable.  Having regular maintenance performed will help extend the life of your equipment as well as guard against common failures. Most manufactures will void  the warranty without annual preventive maintenance. Prillaman uses a 13 point checklist and recommends a spring and a fall maintenance to help insure your air conditioning and heat are ready when you need them.  We can also check air filters, humidifiers, and other whole house products.
